Intellectual Property and Bio-entrepreneurship
The purpose is satisfying the need for increased knowledge and skills in the creation of innovation from bioscience research in the region. Specifically, skills and tools in IP management and innovation, technology transfer, venture creation, and business development are required to insure a return on the huge investment in bioscience research for industry, universities, and society. Thus what is required are education and training programs focused on different actors including university students, researchers, technology transfer professionals, and business actors involved in bioscience activities. In addition, research into new operational theories and development of new interdisciplinary business tools to address the creation of early-stage bioscience innovations is critical to this effort.
